Engineering

Vice President of Engineering. Under the direction of the CEO and with teams of highly skilled engineers based in San Jose, Atlanta, and Beijing, it will be your responsibility to turn technical vision into reality. You will manage the company’s research and development, ensuring that our engineers productively deliver best-in-class new products and timely updates to existing products. You will be part of the key executive team implementing and executing plans for business growth.  .

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct the design of new products and product enhancements.
  • Provide overall leadership for approximately 135 engineers in multiple development teams worldwide. 
  • Staff and manage the project scheduling groups and product verification groups within engineering.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and according to corporate quality standards.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 10 years as a senior manager required; previous VP experience preferred.
  • 5 years managing global engineering teams, preferably in an ISO9001 environment. 
  • A proven track record of delivering world-class, performance critical product projects on time, on budget and with quality to customers.

Senior Hardware Engineer. This person will be a key member of Sunrise Telecom's core design team for handheld and portable test equipment. The Senior Hardware Engineer will use in-depth knowledge and experience in digital circuit board design and FPGA design to develop state-of-the-art designs that meet market needs, with an emphasis on compact, low-to-moderate cost, low-power applications. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and require minimal supervision. Design responsibilities include design of complex, multi-million gate FPGAs (Xilinx and Altera); logical and physical synthesis; logic simulation; and an understanding of static timing analysis and floor planning techniques. The qualified candidate will be knowledgeable in Verilog and/or VHDL, industry-standard simulators (ModelSim), FPGA Synthesis tools (Synplicity, ISE, Quartus), and in design flows starting from a high-level specification through gate-level netlist. Additionally, candidate should be knowledgeable in board design having experience with industry standard tools such as ORCAD schematic capture. Requirements for position: . Mechanical Engineer II. The Mechanical Engineer II will develop chassis/package designs for Sunrise Telecom's handheld and portable test equipment. Will work closely with management, marketing, and other engineers to design industry-leading handheld and portable test equipment for telecommunications, and will act as liaison between engineering and manufacturing on mechanical design issues. Will consult with electronic hardware engineering, marketing, production, sales, and customers to establish design concepts. Will evaluate design ideas based on factors such as design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, market characteristics, and specifications, and then integrates findings and concepts into design ideas. Will prepare and/or coordinate preparation of working drawings from sketches and design specifications. Will present the design to Marketing and Engineering management and discuss needs for modification and change. Will prepare designs, and will work with offshore manufacturing to build models and/or mock-ups, obtain internal approvals, and shepherd the design through the development, prototype, pilot, and production processes. Responsibilities of this position will include, but will not be limited to: design and development of new products, as well as modifications to existing products; communication with vendors and suppliers; implementing designs into production; material selection; standards compliance (UL, CE, etc.); safety reviews; using design development tools and techniques; Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Inspection; CAD and 3D Design tools.

Must have experience in the most of the following areas: plastic injection molding; die-cast molding; electronic packaging; stamping; CNC; manufacturing processes; CAD (Pro E preferred); geometric tolerancing; thermal analysis; design for assembly/manufacturability/ quality; and experience with off-shore sourced products. Must have B.S.M.E. or equivalent plus 3 or more years experience in commercial/industrial product design and development. Must be proficient in 2Dand 3D CAD programs, preferably with Pro E. Must be able to perform engineering analysis of a new product design. Must have specialized knowledge of handheld and portable devices, test equipment, and/or scientific instruments. Must have demonstrated ability to build consensus with team members, while being open and responsive to design management. Must be able to work with others as part of the product development process. RF Repair Technician. The Repair Technician will work as a member in the service team in performing upgrade, repair and calibration on broadband cable TV products such as 1.5 GHz spectrum analyzer, DOCSIS cable modem system analyzer, RF multiplexer switches. Major responsibilities include:

  • Verify problem reported and document findings on field returned products.
  • Troubleshoot, identify failure mode and repair to component level and document relevant repair actions in details to facilitate failure analysis.

Customer Service Engineer. The Customer Service Engineer works as one of the key members in the customer care operations of the Customer Service supporting Sunrise Telecom's global client base. This support includes providing technical support in the use of products, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving product related issues. The Customer Service Engineer will provide e-mail and telephone technical support to international distributors, sales representatives, and end-user customers. Must understand, communicate, and monitor customer requirements to ensure customer satisfaction. Will verify issues reported from the field. Will provide accurate feedback to and act as customer's liaison interfacing with Sales, Product Marketing and R&D in resolving customer problems, product enhancements and/or deficiencies in a timely manner. Will document all support interaction in ticketing system and related database structure. Will participate in the development and maintenance of solution knowledgebase and customer self-service portal to provide additional customer communication channel in promoting customer satisfaction. Will be resourceful in keeping up to date with emerging technologies in the industry and product knowledge in providing professional product supports to customers and peers of the customer support team. Will assist the RMA team members with technical verification and validation of RMA requests by performing inspection and problem verification on incoming RMAs to identify software/hardware related issues, and drive for fixes and enhancements. Will perform product training to internal and external customers on as-required basis. Will perform product tests in assisting product and software releases on as-required basis. Will perform product functional tests for demo equipment deployment. Will assist with the refinement of the support process, training requirements, etc. that will improve customer satisfaction and/or reduce cost of support.

Must have Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or relevant engineering discipline. Must have 5+ years of technical support experience in telecom related field. Must possess a combination of solid technical knowledge, strong interpersonal and problem solving skills to effectively interact with customers and team members that will allow to deliver support to customers. Must be motivated to action in resolving customer issues in a timely manner. Must have knowledge and experience in telecom access, core transmission infrastructure, T-carrier/PDH, SDH/SONET, OTN transport technologies, CAS, CCS signaling, TCP/IP, VoIP, IPTV, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel protocols. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and phone presence. A second language skill is an advantage. Sr. Buyer/Planner. The Sr. Buyer/Planner must be flexible to changes in activities and workload by using good judgment and effective work practices and behaviors to maintain customer satisfaction. Responsible for all aspects of materials readiness in support of production and planning.   • Performs BOM health scrubs on PCBAs, Box Level Mechanicals highlighting and escalating shortages, component obsolescence issues, ROHS compliance, Sole / Single sourcing issues etc.
  • Generates preliminary Costed BOMs and communicate projections across the Business / Eng. Teams.
  • Co-ordinates and maintains the NPI forecasts (both box and board) with the Ops. PM and Demand Planning Manager to ensure the integrity of the NPI demand line, from engineering build / prototype, through pilot, pre-production ramp, and production readiness release.
  • Responsible for insuring that NPI work orders are in line with the Project Plan and to see that all aspects of this process are fulfilled.
  • Responsible for the disposition of ECOs, including the assignment of quantity and costs, physical disposition of scrap material and initiation of replacement/additional material.
  • Responsible for the correct transactional/physical movement of engineering purchased material.
  • Ownership of all the material associated with proto/pilot builds as well as ensuring that material is forecasted and available in the pipeline for the production ramp plan.
  • Works with the Production Control Manager to ensure the MRP accurately reflects the proper requirements / costs and seeing that execution is taking place on the daily and weekly actions.
  • Responsible for all coordinating prototype and pilot PCBA delivery, working with identified CM partners, communicating schedules, resolving shortages with the assistance of the other Buyers.
  • Responsible for the transition to production release. Insuring that all data elements of the production release ECO are accurate and correctly adjusted in the item master, BOMs are accurate, and documentation is available and complete.
  • Responsible for communicating any/all exceptions -material not on order, late deliveries, all process problems which delay cycle time, or BOM issues that may negatively impact product release schedules.
  • Monitors purchasing cost and report findings to Materials management.
  • Participates when needed in quarterly cost roll activity.
  • Maintains metrics measuring prototype cycle time, aged work orders, invoice discrepancies.
  • Writes and distributes a status report on an as needed basis.

Must have working knowledge of low-volume, high mix manufacturing, inventory control techniques, Lean Six Sigma. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word applications. Must have fundamental understanding of Project Management Methodologies and use of MS Project to create timelines. Must be proficient in the use of ERP and Agile databases. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent problem solving and analytical skill. Must have strong negotiation skills. Must have good team building abilities, able to encourage people to work together with a positive "Can Do Attitude". Must be able to influence and lead functional teams to make decisions that are in the best interest of the company. Bachelor's degree in Business or related field preferred. Director of Tax and Treasury.  This position is for an experienced strategic thinker as well as an individual contributor who is able to make a difference. Significant contribution with review of daily compliance, detailed modeling and planning. A mentor, team player and professional resource with direct responsibility for ensuring all tax compliance is filed timely and accurately. Additionally this individual will need to continually update their professional and technical expertise as well as the expertise of a senior tax analyst and inform management of legislative and industry developments. Areas covered include but are not limited to:

  • Sales tax, use tax, property tax, payroll tax, federal income tax, multi-state income tax,
  • R&D credit documentation, international structuring and planning, transfer pricing, structuring planning for acquisitions, reorganizations,
  • quarter tax provisions, effective tax rate analysis, tax estimates, FAS 109, FIN 48, etc.
  • Assist with the coordination and management of tax audits and defense of positions, responsibilities involving coordination and management of all tax filings.
  • Various corporate projects and initiatives, cash flow forecast, manage company investments, balance sheet forecast, insurance and risk management, subsidiary capitalization, repatriation and funding and financing strategies.
  • Treasury experience with cash management and planning, working with banks, line of credit and letters of credit.

BS and/or MS degree in accounting or finance with 8 to 10 years experience in tax required, combining corporate tax/treasury department and big 4 public accounting experience. CPA certification and/or master in taxation/MBA, leader, mentor, self starter, team player, energetic and aggressive, must possess a thorough working knowledge of FAS109 and FIN 48, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to get into the details of an accounting system and reconcile accounts, clear understanding of accounting systems.
